The DILo @ South Hills
South Hills High School is launching a Design Contest to redefine the learning space by converting the library into the Digital Innovation Lounge or more affectionately known; The DILo
There are 5 teams comprised of 8 - 10 students that will collaborate for 12 weeks to create a design that captures the student’s ideal learning atmosphere that includes the following:
Maker Space
Audio/Video Lab
Collaboration Space
Presentation Space
Library Kiosk
The team vision is not limited to the above components, but they must be apart of the plan.
Each team will have the following coaches made available for them:
2 TCU Interior Design Students to consult with on a weekly basis
1 Huckabee and Associates Architecture Intern (http://www.huckabee-inc.com/)
Access to the North Texas Director and Sales Manage of KI Furniture (http://www.ki.com/)
All teams are required to consult with their coaches both virtually and face-to-face each week.
At the end of the 12 weeks, we will host an event on TCU’s campus where students will pitch their design in front of professionals, but the South Hills student body will decide the winner.
This is an exciting real-world opportunity for our student participants that will promote College and Career Readiness, Professional Speaking, Global collaboration and most importantly, a sense of pride.
We will use Social Media to highlight the ongoing activities throughout the competition. Connect with the sites below to stay informed.
