Collaboration With Académie de Paris

One of Harry Stone's goal is to expose our students globally. Last year, we were privilage enough to connect with at French class at the Academy of Paris and work together on a VoiceThread project where we discussed paintings created by Edward Hopper that were on display at the Louvre. The students at the academy were looking for an opportunity to practice their English speaking skills and we were happy to oblige.

This year, Harry Stone launched Beginning French classes and it was only natural to continue the relationship with the Academy of Paris. However, we want to take the communication to another level. With the help of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 students at Harry Stone are able to use video chat features on Google+ Hangouts to communicate with his/her new ePal. We still use VoiceThread to handle broad discussion pieces like the introductions to the left, but our plan is to individualize the discussions using Google.

Using the app Smart Voice Recorder and Google Drive, Harry Stone students will record pieces of a conversation in French and directly from the app, push the recording to a shared Google Drive folder with their ePal. Within this shared folder, students will be able to hold and access ongoing conversations in French and English.
