HSMA Tech Squad

Harry Stone believes in allowing students to take leadership roles at any capacity. One of the ways we promote this is through Tech Squad. Tech Squad is a group of selected students who embody the #stoneagethinking movement at Harry Stone in multifaceted ways. These students help their peers and teachers with technology and creative implementation inside the classrooms. They are an extension to the Tech Guru, Mr. Smith and fill in when he is not available. Students have to apply to be apart of Tech Squad and then go through rigorous testing to demonstrate their skills at different levels. Students must then complete a series of assessments achieving no less then 80% mastery.

There are 4 levels to Tech Squad:

Padawans

Masters

Ambassadors

Each of our levels are grade specific. Padawans are made up of 6th grade students. Tech Squad Masters are comprised of 7th Grade students, but if a Padawan moves through the program at a faster pace and show Master aptitude, then a 6th grade student can become a Tech Squad Master as well. Ambassadors however, are our Advanced Tech 8th Grade students. These students represent Harry Stone in various technology showcases and presentations. Ambassadors must complete all levels and be chosen to take the Advanced Technology course. These students are chosen during the 2nd and 5th 6-Week Grading Periods.

Students will use Haiku Badges to earn points toward the completion of each task within each level. Tech Squad will use this wonderful tool for all students to keep track of the progress to earn Tech Squad status. However, the journey begins with understanding how to use technology responsibly in the following areas of the Common Sense Media Digital Citizenship Series:
